In an unexpected twist of fate, the two characters from both sides of the spectrum are rumored to be the fruit of love between Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher).

According to the Radio Times, Ford and Fisher's on-screen love story had twins in the Expanded Universe and these two might be Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and Daisy Ridley's Rey.

The outlet analyzed events in the Expanded Universe to further explain the connection between the two.

First off is the fact that the intergalactic franchise had a history of being a "Skywalker family affair."

"The first films introduced us to Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia Organa and the prequels introduced us to their parents, Anakin and Padme, so why wouldn't the sequels catch up with their children?" the report noted.

Furthermore, he Expanded Universe's Jacen and Jaina Solo, the twins born to Leia and Han, is around 25 years old in the setting of "The Force Awakens."

Another notable Star Wars fact about the twins is the fact that they have not always lived with their parents, making Rey, a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku, a possible candidate to become Jaina Solo.

"In the Star Wars Expanded Universe (EU) numerous attempts were made to kidnap the Solo twins, and they were often sent into hiding far from home with droids to watch over them," the report read.

The third trailer for Episode VII clearly reveals how important Rey's role in the movie, despite her claiming that "I'm no-one" in the clip.

According to Screen Rant, this clearly confirms speculations that she is the next Anakin and Luke Skywalker considering how they both came from humble origins and eventually developed into Jedi Knights.

Kylo Ren, on the other hand, also has an impeccable similarity to Jacen particularly in his "mission."

While he indeed is no Sith Lord yet, past trailers and teasers for "The Force Awakens" reveal how he is determined to follow the footsteps of Darth Vader.

In the Expanded Universe, Jacen sees Vader, his grandfather, as someone who did what he sees necessary in order to protect the ones he loved.

In fact, the male Solo twin even defended Vader to Luke Skywalker on occasion, and later becomes a Sith Lord known as Darth Caedus who rules the galaxy with the same iron fist as his idol.

In the trailer, Kylo Ren is depicted as a devoted follower of Vader.

In case you missed it, here is the third trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" due in theaters on December 18.
