Instead of seriously brooding about her situation, Aniela McGuinness uses her double mastectomy to inspire others by documenting every stage of her progress in a photo series on her Instagram page. The 32-year-old breast cancer survivor decided to put humor on her every snaps rather being emotional.

According to Metro, the actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2014. She was first seen positive with BRCA1 genetic mutation a few years earlier that may likely develop into a full blown breast cancer, which made her decided to undergo bilateral mastectomy to prevent the tumor from spreading.

Unfortunately, when she underwent MRI before surgery, they found out she already had stage one breast cancer. Aniela, then, searched the before and after photos of mastectomy and was upset of the results, Cosmopolitan noted.

"It's a heartbreaking array of faceless women's maimed breasts under florescent lighting," she wrote on her YouTube page. "Before removing my breasts I wanted photographic evidence of what they looked like. But I didn't want mug shots of attempted murders. I wanted a photo that captured how I felt," she said.

Aniela first created the impression of the iconic Rosie the Riveter. She said it made her feel good to take-off her shirt without the doctor’s order.

Which lead her to create the powerful #MyBreastChoice campaign composed of humorous photographs that expresses her emotions on each stage of the process, BuzzFeed wrote. “In a strange way it was comforting. I didn’t have to question if I was making the right choice by removing them.”

Aniela was, then, photographed as the Bride of Frankenstein after her surgery, which happened to be a week before Halloween.

She is sick and tired of the mastectomy photos and “wanted something to shake people up,” she said. “Knowing that I had cancer then, actually taking the photo was wonderfully empowering.”

Her third snap was made after her chemotherapy was done. She chose to portray a mannequin for she had no hair and her breasts were all swelled-up with expanders, which made her feel like a plastic figure.

However, Aniela is still surprised that it happened to her at her age, Medical Daily added. "With that, I spent a lot of time looking up photos of mastectomy boobs. You see your future, and it's scary. I did not want other women to have those as the only images they saw of mastectomies."

The last shot was taken after her constructive surgery and learned that she’s already cancer-free. She, then, decided to have reconstructed nipples, as she said: "[I] had too much fun not having nipples."
