The all-time scary movie "Halloween" is returning to the silver screen this October but for a single night only.

According to Cinema Blend, the 1978 classic horror flick featuring a special and exclusive introduction from John Carpenter, the creator of "Halloween" himself would be shown in theaters as a "special event" all over the United States.

Thanks to Fathom Events, the original Michael Myers together with a young Jamie Lee Curtis would be spooking thrill-seekers this October.

But there is an unexpected twist in this good news.

According to the outlet, the film would only play in theaters for one night only, particularly on October 29, a Thursday, contrary to its original October 25 release date back in 1978 which has been deemed the "spookiest holiday" by the outlet.

Of course, the audience had been used to seeing the scary movie every year on the exact same date but only in their TV screens so this may still be considered wonderful news.

"Halloween" follows the story of Michael Myers, a serial killer who began killing people at an early age starting with his 17-year-old sister, Judith.

This led to his incarceration in a mental institution that lasted for 15 years before he escaped on October 30, 1978 while he was being transferred for a court date.

As a 21-year-old, Myers proved to be scarier than ever as he returns to his hometown in Illinois to look for his younger sister, Laurie-and probably more people to kill.

The original "Halloween" film earned the movie stellar ratings and positive reviews including 7.9 stars from IMDb and 95 percent rating in the Rotten Tomato's Tomatometer.

After gaining popularity since it was first released in theaters, the "Halloween" franchise gave birth to about ten movies.

This, says Entertainment Weekly, continues to grow as Dimensions Films announced in June that they would be producing a new "Halloween" movie entitled "Halloween Returns" which would be directed by Marcus Dunstan.

According to the outlet, the script for Michael Myers' return would be written by Dunstan with co-writer Patrick Melton.

The two worked with other blockbuster horror flicks including Saw 4, Saw 5, Saw 6 and Saw 7.

"Michael Myers has taken a long break from the big screen and we know fans are eager to see him return. We are excited to be back in business with Trancas and look forward to bringing one of the scariest installments of this classic franchise to audiences worldwide," Dimension boss Bob Weinstein said in a statement.
