The latest installment of the role-playing video game Persona has recently been highlighted in a Japanese game show where the characters of the "Persona 5" were discussed in detail.

DesignTrend said the upcoming game was highlighted during the recent Tokyo Game Show 2015 and appearing characters were discussed.

According to the same report, the main character is still unnamed though it said that the past stories of previous games highlighted on a 16-year-old student.

"As far as his role, however, the latest footage showcases him as something of a hero in disguise," added DesignTrend.

The protagonist is said to be joined by other characters of the game such as the protagonist's newfound friend Ryuji Sakamoto, Japanese-American Anne Takamaki, the enigmatic Morgana and painter Yusuke Kitagawa.

The students will reportedly reveal their "phantom thief side" to help a Japanese city stand up from the darkness.

Set to arrive late next year in the PS3 and PS4, "Persona 5" is believed to be set in the city of Tokyo as per Red Bull.

"The Protagonist transfers to a new school in spring where he meets numerous new friends. The game starts out in Shibuya and branches out to other parts of Tokyo," added the same report.

It was also added that the main character of the game will face a new set of problems and will encounter great challenges as they try to help their community.

Red Bull added that the game's combat is now turn-based and will have a Social Link component meaning that there will be "randomly-generated areas" and every character will have a ranged weapon.

As for the game's music composer, Shoji Meguro will reportedly be back to bring in some acid jazz material into the music of "Persona 5."

Siliconera also noted that the opening of the game will feature the vocals of South Korean R&B singer Lyn.

All these features and developments could be Japanese game developer Atlus' way to compensate for the delayed release of the game which was earlier expected to come out within the year.

In a post on their Facebook page, Atlus explained that the development of the newest instalment could not be rushed by the team.

"The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae - elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly," read the game developer's statement.

It added that they know and feel the frustration and disappointment of the gamers, but noted that they are delaying the release of the game "to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans."
