The date has finally been set to start the next phrase in the Jodi Arias retrial.

Arias was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8 in the ghastly 2008 death of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix, Ariz. home. However, the same jury that found her guilty failed to reach a unanimous decision on her sentencing. As a result, her retrial will be held to determine whether she should be sentenced to death, life in prison or life with a chance of release after serving 25 years.

According to the Epoch Times, the next hearing date is scheduled for January 3, while the trial is set to start in mid-February.

According to Alexander's family, Arias has tried to push the date back for her next trial in order to thwart their efforts. However, Alexander's brother, Steven, declared that they have not been deterred. On Facebook, he revealed that the sentencing trial for the "monster that haunts" his family will begin in February of next year.

"Letting everybody know the trial isn't due to start until mid February," he wrote in a Facebook post that was later shared by the Justice for Travis fan page.

"We believe this is a tactic to try and get us to throw in the towel," he said about the situation, adding that his family will continue to seek the death penalty for Arias.

"We will not! I say it again it won't happen. Our family will come together and see it through until it is finished. There is a monster that haunts us, but once the correct sentence is given, it's her who will be haunted until the most humane punishment comes to her. Nothing compared to the sentence she gave to a good man."

Steven concluded writing, "Anyhow, the entire Alexander family thanks all of you. Thank you for having our backs."
