It is a known fact that there are times when fans get a little crazy when it comes to their favorite celebrities, but it's a different story altogether when said fans get more than just a little bit scary.

For instance, an obsessive Benedict Cumberbatch fans went so far as to send death threats to his "Sherlock" co-stars, Martin Freeman (who plays John Watson), and Amanda Abbington (who joined the series later on and was cast as John's wife, Mary Mortsan).

The anonymous fan who Design & Trend thinks is a woman, has posted a series of chilling messages on her Tumblr page. Among the terrifying posts include a photo of a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire (a little too "The Walking Dead"), captioned, "Shall we start prepping for a possible funeral?"

"Both Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington are starting to give Benedict [Cumberbatch] and all his fans a bad name! They seriously just need to shut up and f--king die already!," she also wrote.

Abbington revealed that she and Freeman, who are partners in real life, already called the police. She also tweeted about the incident, saying, "To the coward who's since shut this blog down. We've already informed the police, sweetie. They have all the info."

A source told The Sun that this is not new to the couple, but that does not mean they're okay with death threats being sent their way. In 2014, when it was revealed that Abbington was to play John Watson's wife, she also received death threats from fans who thought her character will come between Sherlock's and Watson's dynamic.

Back then, she said about the crazy fanbase, "When I told everybody I was playing Mary, there was a small group who wanted me dead. I got, 'She should die. How dare she play Mary Morstan? How dare she!' They take the John and Sherlock storyline so seriously that they wouldn't want anyone coming between them."

Unfortunately for the Cumberbitches, Abbington may be a new addition to the cast, but she's definitely not new in Freeman's life --- that she got to play his wife in the series is a bonus, but they pair have been together for fifteen years and have two kids, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Hopefully, things will get sorted out properly as Cumberbatch, along with Freeman and Abbington are going to have to go back on set by early 2016 as filming for the series resumes.

There is no specific date for the release of the detective series, but until then, fans can quell their thirst for the mystery-solving pair of Sherlock and Watson this winter with the premiere of a special Victorian episode. Are you excited?
