Andrew Garfield reveals hints about the doomed third "Amazing Spider-Man" movie before he personally recommended Sony to team up with Marvel.

According to Cinema Blend, the 32-year-old Spiderman star spilled some revelations of what the "Amazing Spider-Man 3" could have been while promoting his upcoming indie movie "99 Homes" where he stars with "Man of Steel" actor Michael Shannon due in theaters on September 25.

In an interview with Uproxx, Garfield revealed how the third installment of his Spiderman would have revolved around the death of Peter Parker's girlfriend Gwen Stacy portrayed by award-winning actress Emma Stone.

According to the actor, he and writer Alex Kurtzman had been talking about how the third movie would go, citing that they had thought about starting from the "base level" of where the audience saw Peter Parker at the end of the "Amazing Spider-Man 2."

"We thought to kind of start from the base level, the foundational level of where have we left Peter and where do we want to see him go and what's logical. And how do we build upon where we left off with this deep, desperate moment with Gwen? So, yeah, we got to some pretty heavy places, and I was really excited to kind of explore it and be involved on the ground level like that," he told Uproxx.

Cinema Blend noted that the second installment of the franchise seemed to be "a bit of a rushed affair" considering that at the end of the film, Parker's Aunt May played by Sally Field convinced her nephew to resume hero work immediately after losing the love of his life.

Letting Parker slip back to his Spider-Man suit, says the outlet, was "too quick" and added that the sequel "should have" had an open ending which would allow the audience "to wonder if the world was done with Spider-Man... or if Spider-Man was done with the world."

Whatever the third sequel could have been, we would never since, as Garfield describes it, "it was not meant to be."

"I've been petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning, so I'm really glad they're finally doing it," he told Uproxx, referring to Sony's team-up with the studio.

Despite the fact that he would be replaced by Tom Holland under the web crawler's suit, the American-English actor seem to be genuinely happy for the entire franchise as well as for himself because he can finally "just watch it" like the rest of the world.
