The British Broadcasting Company director of television Danny Cohen sent his apologies to Sir Tom Jones on Wednesday. The Welsh singer was surprisingly told by the network that he will no longer reprise his seat as the coach on "The Voice" U.K.

The BBC bosses felt sorry for making the legendary music icon upset on the sad news. To compensate, they promised to land him another show soon.

The 41-year-old program creator offered the 75-year-old star a sincere apology, saying he's "truly sorry" for disappointing the "extraordinary figure" according to the BBC. He said about the distress they made: "I've got huge respect for Tom and I'm truly sorry he's upset, because I am a big fan of his."

"I think he's a gentleman, I think he's an extraordinary figure in music and you'll have seen the huge respect that all of the artists have had for him on 'The Voice' throughout," the youngest controller of the channel added. The Order of the British Empire is not yet responding to the said apology according to DailyMail.

Furthermore, Cohen explained that: "These things happen over time, but I would never would want Tom to be upset and I am sorry that's the case." He, too, even said that they want the "Sex Bomb" hitmaker to return. "I'd like to have him back on the BBC this year, in something else. Absolutely. I hope he's back on the BBC very soon, I really do," he told Yahoo! U.K.

Moreover, the talent show's heads' decision to drop Sir Tom was only announced after his and Rita Ora's replacements were confirmed two weeks ago. Boy George and Paloma Faith will be the new judges of the said program on its next season as reported by Daily Mail.

The BBC defended themselves by saying they informed the popular vocalist of the 1960s by the changes made the day before it was announced. They insisted that it was kept that way to keep the new additions a top-secret. "The final decision on the coaches' line-up for series 5 of The Voice was only taken on Wednesday and Tom's team was informed early yesterday morning," a spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Sir Tom criticized the broadcasting house's producers in a lengthy post he shared on his Facebook page. He said: "I was told yesterday, with no consultation or conversation of any kind, that I would not be returning."

As he believed that he's still part of the team, he made his schedule available for the fifth season as he had always done for past last four years. He also gave respect to the performers and production staff of the show by saying: "I wish the show well," as Daily Mail reported.
