Cristiano Ronaldo has purchased a loft worth millions of dollars in one of Donald Trump's properties.

New York Post reported that the Real Madrid superstar has bought a 2,509 square foot loft for $18.5 million in the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, NYC. The purchase was completed last Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The loft was owned by Italian real estate mogul Alessandro Proto, who is also the business partner of Republican presidential candidate Trump.

A separate report from the New York Post noted earlier this month that Trump and Proto are teaming up to buy the Medellin-based football club Atletico Nacional for $100 million. The deal was rejected for a counterproposal worth $150 million, but Trump and Proto will still look for other clubs in Colombia, New York Post added.

Ronaldo's New York purchase stirs speculations whether the Portuguese footballer will play in the city or just reside in it. There have been reports that the 30-year-old athlete is planning to join the Major League Soccer team when his contract expires in 2018, the news outlet wrote.

"Sports Illustrated reported that Los Angeles is a likely destination, but the purchase raises the question of whether New York City FC or the Red Bulls could be in play down the road," the New York Post explained.

Cristiano Ronaldo Named Top Charitable Athlete

Ronaldo placed at the number one spot in this year's "Top 20 Athletes Gone Good" list. He got past the likes of other famous names in the sports industry, such as John Cena (No. 2), Serena Williams (No. 3), LeBron James (No. 6), Maria Sharapova (No. 8), and Ronda Rousey (No. 14.)

"All over the world, athletes are using their platforms to rally fans around important causes," said Naomi Hirabayashi, chief marketing officer at DoSomething.org, Look to the Stars quoted. "DoSomething.org is proud to honor these athletes who are using their fame for good."

Ronaldo has raised money for various charitable organizations, including donating more than $83,000 to a 10-year-old child's brain surgery, Look to the Stars reported. He also gave more than $165,000 to fund a Portuguese cancer center that was responsible for his mother's treatment.

Aside from these, Ronaldo took advantage of his international fame for campaigning for importance causes such as child hunger, obesity, and biodiversity, the news outlet listed.

The "Top 20 Athletes Gone Good list" is based on a result of a three-part methodology, the publics' votes and nominations, the athlete's influence on social media, and advice from the Athletes Gone Good Advisory Committee, Look to the Stars wrote.
