The upcoming 27th season of Fox's "The Simpsons" will feature Sofia Vergara as the voice behind its newest character, Mrs. Berrera.

The "Modern Family" star's role, which is described by Entertainment Weekly as "highly attractive," will be Bart's teacher. Bart develops romantic feelings for Mrs. Berrera after drinking a milk substitute that contains bad hormones, causing him to experience early puberty.

Aside from the attention of Bart, Mrs. Berrera will also capture the eye of Principal Skinner voiced by Harry Shearer. "We thought it'd be interesting if both Bart and Skinner have a crush on the same woman," said "The Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "She feels Skinner is a wounded soul that she wants to take care of. She is a vet like Skinner, and that's his attraction."

Jean added that Mrs. Berrera will be miles away from Bart's previous teacher, Mrs. Krabappel, in the sense that the former will be more tolerant of Bart's antics.

"She's more forgiving than Mrs. Krabappel was of Bart," Jean added, as reported by the news outlet. "She pays special attention to him."

Mrs. Krabappel was voiced by Marcia Wallace, who died in 2013. The character's absence means that Bart is now without a regular teacher, resulting to Vergara's Mrs. Berrera staying on for more episodes in the future.

Vergara's episode on "The Simpsons" is titled "Teenage Mutant Milk-Caused Hurdles." It will air halfway in the show's new season, which will start airing on Sept. 27, Entertainment Weekly added. The 43-year-old bombshell previously provided her voice on two animated shows from Fox, "The Cleveland Show" and "Family Guy."

'The Simpsons' Latest Scoop

In June, Jean said that Homer and Marge are separating, CNN reported. The reveal was met with angry reactions from fans, prompting the EP to backtrack from his statement, which he said was "correct/was completely misinterpreted."

Jean also said that Homer will fall in love with a pharmacist voiced by "Girls" star Lena Dunham, CNN added.

Last May, it was announced that Harry Shearer, who voiced Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Waylon Smithers, Otto, and Principle Skinner, among others, is leaving the show due to a contract disagreement. However, it was reported that the dispute was resolved and Shearer has now signed on for Seasons 27 and 28, Deadline wrote.

Season 27's annual Halloween episode will also feature Sideshow Bob finally succeeding in killing Bart, according to a separate report from Entertainment Weekly. Bart, on the other hand, will be back on the show's succeeding episodes.

Also returning for the 27th season is Homer's beloved Spider-Pig, the news outlet added.
