Jessica Alba's The Honest Company has issued a statement after some customers complained about the company's sunscreen products.

Over the last few weeks, customers aired out their disappointment over The Honest Company's SPF 30 sunscreen line, which is said to have "broad spectrum, mineral-based protection," USA Today reported. According to users, the product doesn't have adequate sun protection and left their skin burned.

Consumers of the sunscreen line also expressed their dissatisfaction on the product's Amazon page, with majority of the users claiming that the purchase didn't prevent burning of the skin. On June 2, one user complained that he suffered sunburn after only being outdoors for an hour.

In a statement issued to PEOPLE, The Honest Company maintained their stand on their product's safety and efficiency, adding that they "take all consumer feedback very seriously."

"Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products," the company said, as quoted by PEOPLE.

The public response continued, "The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours)."

According to The Honest Company's statement via PEOPLE, the complaints they received on their website about their sunscreen line "constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com."

NBC Chicago reported that the FDA requires sunscreen products to use up to 18% to 25% of zinc oxide. The Honest Company, however, dropped the amount of zinc oxide in the sunscreen tubes from 20% to 9.3%. The company said that despite lessening the zinc, they make up for it by putting other ingredients to keep the product effective to users.

The company, who is also co-founded by former Healthy Child Healthy World CEO Christopher Gavigan, said that they are currently sold-out of sunscreen spray and sunscreen lotion, PEOPLE wrote. True enough, NBC Chicago reported about visiting Norstrom and Target stores, where an employee claimed that the sunscreen line was "discontinued."

However, The Honest Company insisted that the product is still up for purchase in other retailers and that it hasn't been discontinued, NBC Chicago added.

The Honest Company manufactures eco-friendly and non-toxic consumer goods, which includes bath and body products, diapers, feminine care, detergent, formula products, and cleaning supplies, the organization listed.
