Motorola unveiled two unexpected variants of the flagship phone Moto X with impressive specs and upgrades on one of the best Android phones of2014.

The company kept busy on Wednesday with three events simultaneously happening in key cities like Sao Paolo, New York, and London in the wake of an earlier release of the third generation Moto G in India, First Post reported.

Motorola's highlight during the three events is the release of Moto X Play and the Moto X Style, which were major upgrades for fan-favorite Moto X.

"We've tried to bring as many of our high-end features from Moto X to the G as quickly as possible, but we've also got Moto E stepping up to fill needs at the low end," Motorola Marketing Head Adrienne Hayes told the Guardian.

According to the Business Insider, the Moto X Style boasts similar specs to that of its predecessor, with significant changes like its larger 5.7-inch QuadHD display with 515ppi pixel density.

During a hands-on testing, the outlet noted how the Moto X variant "feels noticeably heavier," though not necessarily bulky.

Business Insider says this phone is "slick and attractive," with glossy white bezels on the front portion of the device that gives it "a nice clean look."

The device also presents customization features via Motorola's Moto Maker studio.

Moto Maker allows the user to create his own design of the phone's back case.

First Post reported that the Moto X Style has a Snapdragon 808 SoC from Qualcomm with a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor, 3GB RAM, and the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Motorola-signature features.

Moto Assist, Moto Voice, Moto Actions, Moto Display, and several other Motorola features are available with the new phone.

The Moto X Play, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch display set at full HD with 400 ppi density, and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC with 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and the same operating system.

The phones also feature impressive cameras. The rear camera can tke pictures of up to 21MP, and has an aperture of f/2.0 and flash. The phones also have a 5MP front-facing lens. Both cameras allow shooting 4K video clips.

The big difference between the two is battery capacity.

While the Moto X Style's 3,000 mAh capacity is already impressive, Moto X Play was made more capable of powering high-tech games with a 3,630mAh battery capacity. Motorola says it can last up to 48 hours of continuous use.

The Moto X Style has a price range within $400 without carrier contracts, while the Moto X Play is set at around $466.72.
