Sony Xperia Z owners have been patiently waiting for their taste of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and while the official release is still pending, interested parties can now download a near-final leaked build of Android 4.3 for the popular handset.

The leaked Xperia Z Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware carries a build date of late November, and can be downloaded through XDA Developers. Although it's not an official final build, it seems that the firmware is stable and was meant for commercial outlets and members of the press.

Due to the near-final nature of the leaked build, Xperia Zs won't have to be rooted in order to sideload the upgrade. Still, it's best to wait for the official over-the-air release if you haven't flashed before, but for those brave enough, installation instructions can be found here.

The upgrade brings a number of new features to the table, including several Xperia Z1 features, new album and movies apps, an updated keyboard, and improvements to the screen's calibration for brighter displays.

A leaked version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for the Xperia ZL can also be downloaded here.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean should soon start rolling out officially over the airwaves sometime in December. Sony announced in November that it would begin updating handsets to Android 4.3 in December, so the actual rollout should begin any day now. Sony has also confirmed that the Xperia Z will be receiving Android 4.4 KitKat sometime in the future.
