Sofia Vergara was confronted by pro-life protesters over her frozen embryos with ex fiancé Nick Loeb.

TMZ reported that the "Modern Family" star was greeted by a group of protesters outside the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood saying that she is destroying life by not giving the embryos a chance to live. Vergara was in the movie house together with Joe Manganiello for the premiere date of the actor's latest film, "Magic Mike XXL."

The protesters held up signs saying, "Sofia: Unfreeze your daughters. Unfreeze your heart," as well as "Lives created should be lives protected," TMZ added. The activists also vandalized the Colombian bombshell's Hollywood Walk of Fame with the words, "Embryo Defense."

KHSB noted that Vergara didn't speak to the media during the red carpet event, while Manganiello chose to ignore the protesters lurking outside the theater and the press' questions regarding them. New York Daily News reported that it's unclear whether the 42-year-old actress saw the signs as she went directly onto the red carpet.

The pro-life protests came from Loeb's legal battle with Vergara over the frozen embryos they created. After the former couple's breakup last May, Loeb sued the "Hot Pursuit" actress of wanting to destroy the embryos. According to Loeb, he is willing to carry the costs of storing the embryos and bringing them to full term through a surrogate, Fox News Latino reported.

In an op-ed published on The New York Times headlined "Our Frozen Embryos Have a Right to Live," Loeb raised some controversial issues about parenting and philosophy, going against Vergara's desire to have the embryos frozen in an indefinite amount of time.

In an interview with "Good Morning America" last May, Vergara said that Loeb is taking advantage of her career to "try to promote himself and get press," Us Weekly reported. The actress added that the documents "shouldn't be out there for people to give their opinion when there's nothing to talk about," and that Loeb "shouldn't be creating something so ugly out of nothing," the news outlet noted.

"A child needs a mother and a loving relationship with parents who don't hate each other," Vergara explained on Howard Stern's "SiriusXM" show, as quoted by Us Weekly. "I don't hate [Nick] but obviously he has a problem. A kid needs parents. I wouldn't want to bring kids to the world where it's already set against them. It would be so selfish."

Vergara's lawyer, Fred Silberberg, told PEOPLE that the actress never wanted to destroy the embryos and that the legal papers she signed with Loeb indicates that "no unilateral action can be taken with regard to the embryos unless both parties consent."

Her attorney also said that Loeb and his counsel have been aware of Vergara's wish to have the embryos kept frozen, despite the opposing party's statement to the contrary. Given the circumstances, Silberberg said that the TV star doesn't want to have children with her ex, PEOPLE noted.
