The upcoming James Bond film, "Spectre," has released a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the movie's opening sequence.

The clip, which features the Day of the Dead festival set in Mexico, employs 1,500 extras all dressed up in intricate and colorful costumes, SlashFilm reported. Aside from the meticulous costumes and make-up of the extras, the parade scene also boasts of impressive and vibrant floats commonly featured in the festival.

Watch the featurette below shared on YouTube by the James Bond 007 channel.

"I wanted the audience to be dropped right into the middle of a very, very specific, very heady, rich environment. It's the Day of the Dead, everywhere you look there's color and detail and life. We've built floats and maquettes, the costumes are extraordinary and the craftsmanship is amazing," said director Sam Mendes on the featurette's YouTube description.

According to Cinema Blend, "conventional filmmaking practices for a scene with such grandiosity would simply call for the post-production CGI insertion of such a large number of people." The production team of "Spectre," however, chose to do a more genuine and richer portrayal of the Mexican festival.

Daniel Craig, who reprises his role in the film as the iconic James Bond, wasn't shown in the featurette. But given that the Mexican government specifically requested for Bond to chase down a fleeing villain, Marco Sciarra (Alessandro Cremona), with the Day of the Dead festival as its backdrop, there's a huge chance that Craig's character is there in the scene, Cinema Blend noted. The filming requests of the country aim to portray Mexico and its people in a positive light.

Aside from Mexico, production for "Spectre" is also on-going in London, where Craig's stunt double was seen performing a high-speed chase scene along the River Thames, Daily Mail reported. Aside from Craig, the scene also featured a body double for Léa Seydoux's character as they rode on a speedboat.

Craig's double was spotted holding a Walther PPK gun as low-flying helicopters also joined the pursuit, the news outlet noted. The actors and their respective double have been filming scenes in the river for a month now.

Production for the film is based at London's Pinewood Studios, but scenes were also shot in locations in Rome and Morocco, Daily Mail added.

"Spectre" is slated for release in theaters on November 6, 2015. Also starring are Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Naomie Harris, and Stephanie Sigman, the film's official site wrote.

As quoted by SlashFilm, the film's synopsis reads: "A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE."
