Much has been said about the release date of Apple's iPod Touch 6th Generation. Just recently, a new alleged launch date for the music player has been reported, along with expected specifications and features.

Listed below are the latest speculations about the iPod Touch 6G. Note that these are all unconfirmed at the moment and Apple is yet to make an official statement.

The iPod Touch 6G is expected to come in as a cross between the iPhone and the usual iPod, Master Herald reported. Christian Today noted that the gadget will boast of thinner dimensions and colorful back casings. The music player is said to come in at a variety of colors, which includes pink, silver, red, blue, space grey, and yellow.

Master Herald added that Apple will ship out the device in two variants: a 4.7-inch screen size version and one measuring at 5.5 inches, with both types equipped with a Retina display intended for exceptional resolutions.

Memory Space, OS, & Processor

According to the news outlet, the iPod Touch 6G will have 1 GB of RAM space, with an internal memory expandable up to 128 GB through a microSD card.

Christian Today, meanwhile, said that the device will come in at 32 GB and 64 GB variants, with the rumored iOS 9 serving as its operating system. CrossMap wrote that the upcoming iPod Touch will run using the A5 processor, but Master Herald contradicted this claim by saying that the device will be powered by an A9 microprocessor, which has better performance than the chipset used in the iPhone 6.

The A9 processor is expected to perform better than the other chipsets, but it isn't formally done in the production process just yet, Master Herald noted.

Other features

Additional features included in the music player are some of Apple's latest technologies already incorporated in their other products. The iPod Touch 6G is said to have Force Touch technology, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, an 8 MP camera, and the Apple Pay mobile payment system, Christian Today listed.

Price & Release Date

The iPod Touch 6G will have a starting price at $250 and could reach up to $300, Christian Today speculated.

As for its release date, previous reports have claimed that the iPod Touch 6G will come out at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015 to be held on June 8 to 12, Master Herald noted. This rumor was met with doubts, given that the event is basically intended for software developers. Just recently, a new speculation came out regarding the device's launch date.

According to CrossMap, the iPod Touch 6G will likely be released this coming fall alongside the rumored iPhone 6S. The last iPod Touch the tech giant released was the iPod Touch 5th Generation back in 2012.
