Jennifer Lopez's sexy performance at the 14th Mawazine World Rhythms International Music Festival in Rabat, Morocco offended conservative Islamist members.

Scantily clad in risqué outfits, Lopez's performance was regarded as "unacceptable" and "against the law" by Justice and Development Party or JDP's Communications Minister Mustapha El Khalfi, Fox News Latino reported. El Khalfi said that he has reached out to the TV network which publicly aired the Mawazine music festival and asked its ethics committee to examine the moral aspects of the concert.

The politician didn't criticize Lopez directly, but he pointed a finger on the TV network's move of going against broadcasting law, Al Arabiya wrote.

Abdessamad Al-Idrissi, another official of the JDP, also reacted negatively to the Mawazine festival, saying that the event was "shameful" and disrespectful of the values of the Moroccan people and the nation, Fox News Latino added.

According to the news outlet, many have been wondering about whether Lopez will adhere to the sensitivities of Morocco's culture before her performance at the Mawazine. Granted, the 45-year-old entertainer's numbers were a little subdued, but it still featured elements from her past shows, which included scandalous costumes and suggestive acts.

Lopez's appearance was definitely an attraction in the music festival. Al Arabiya reported that some 300,000 concertgoers attended the event just to see the Latina beauty perform. Pharrell Williams' number in the event, on the other hand, received more positive reactions than Lopez's. Mawazine will continue on until June 6 and will feature other musical artists such as Sean Paul, Avicii, Placebo, Akon, Sting, Usher, and Maroon 5.

Mawazine was the only music festival in Morocco to have featured performances from international acts such as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake, Fox News Latino noted.

J. Lo's Latest Projects

Lopez is set to return as one of the judges for the 15th and final season of "American Idol" next year. When asked about what she thinks of the long-running talent show's imminent end, the actress/singer said, "It is supposed to be the last season, I don't know if that's true." She added, as quoted by The National, "I love the show and I hope it goes on forever."

Lopez joined the tenth season of "American Idol" in 2011, The National wrote. Her recent acting credits include starring in DreamWorks' animated film titled "Home" opposite Rihanna and Jim Parsons, and in NBC's upcoming drama, "Shades of Blue," created by Adi Hasak. Aside from these, the mother-of-two is also set to embark on a 20-show artist residency at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood beginning in January next year.
