The Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) will honor Sofia Vergara for her charitable contributions in the artistic industry.

Vergara, who stars in the ABC comedy "Modern Family" as Gloria Pritchett, will receive the Actors Inspiration Award in the 6th Annual Los Angeles Golf Classic, a tourney which will be held on June 8 at Burbank in Los Angeles County, Fox News Latino reported.

The honorary was created to coincide with the foundation's 30th anniversary celebration, "whose chief work is to provide assistance for actors in the union who have fallen on hard times," Fox News Latino wrote. The institution is expecting 125 actors and executives in the entertainment industry to grace the golf tourney with their appearances, including Andy Garcia, Joe Mantegna, Ron Perlman, Joe Pesci, Michael Peña, and Mark Paul Gosselaar.

"Sofia's support for our programs, commitment to children's literacy and generous charitable giving embody the spirit of this award," said SAG Foundation president JoBeth Williams, as quoted by the news outlet.

Vergara, 42, said that she was grateful for the recognition the SAG Foundation granted her.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the SAG Foundation. This group does so much work supporting and educating the entertainment community and also the general public," the Colombian beauty shared, as reported by Fox News Latino. "I know how hard it can be to get work in this town and I'm grateful that the SAG Foundation exists to help those who are struggling."

The SAG Foundation has been giving more than $17 million in financial aid and medical assistance since 1985, the news outlet added. Aside from these, the organization also provides $6 million in scholarships to both members of the SAG-AFTRA and their dependents.

Sofia Vergara On Being A Comic

Vergara recently starred alongside Reese Witherspoon in the Anne Fletcher-directed comedy "Hot Pursuit." Vergara also serves as the executive producer of the film. When asked in an interview whether acting in comedic projects is a natural thing for her, the actress said that she doesn't have that many inhibitions in the matter.

"Well, my real family is very funny," Vergara shared, as quoted by news.com.au. "I never thought I was going to make a living out of it or act, or anything, but it's natural for me. We always like having a lot of fun. I don't care about looking ugly or looking ridiculous. I'm not afraid of that, and I think that helps a lot when you're doing comedy."

Aside from the SAG Foundation honorary, Vergara was also recently been given a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Daily Mail reported. She was also included in Forbes' annual list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women, placing at No. 57.
