A recent leak of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Active could be an indicator that the device will be released soon, but it also revealed that there could be one missing feature from the phone.

Two leaked photos of the phone sent to GSM Arena showed a front and back image of a camera which seemed to be rugged and all black. The same report said that the device is "built like a tank."

"The handset keeps the camera and heart rate monitor layout of the regular Galaxy S6, but has its loudspeaker moved to its back," described GSM Arena but the site noted that the phone will not offer a fingerprint sensor because of its rugged buttons.

9to5google said the home button containing the fingerprint sensor as well as the capacitive back and multitasking buttons seemed to have been replaced with a set of rugged buttons. "This all but rules out the possibility that the Galaxy S6 Active will sport a fingerprint sensor-but neither did the Galaxy S5 Active so this shouldn't come as a surprise," wrote the outlet.

This could be a bit frustrating for those expecting the feature since it was offerred in last year's installment. GSM Arena's source added that the S6 Active will have the model number SM-G890A and will have a 3,500mAh battery.

"Battery capacity aside, we can reasonably expect that Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will keep the same top notch specs as the Galaxy S6. They include 14nm Exynos 7420 SoC, 5.1" QHD Super AMOLED display, 16MP main camera, and 5MP front-facing unit," GSM Arena claimed.

9to5google also noted that the leaked photos of the S6 Active is somewhat similar to the appearance of the Galaxy S6 and said that it could still be a good catch for Samsung fans who are looking for a smartphone "which can take a beating under varying conditions while still sporting 'premium' features."

An earlier Android Pit report said that the expected release of the phone will be sometime this month or in June, basing the timeline from the two- to three-month release delay between the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 Active.

There are rumors online that the upcoming release will include a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen which is similar to the S6 and S6 Edge. Android Pit added that the device can also come in an octacore Exynos 7420 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of on-board storage, and a 16-megapixel camera similar to what the Galaxy S6 has.

As for the phone's camera, Tech Radar said the Galaxy S6 Active's rear camera will have a 16MP sensor, with an aperture of f1.9 which will be excellent for low light. The device is also estimated to cost almost similar to the S6 or a little pricier.
