The upcoming season finale of A&E's "Bates Motel" is bound to feature bloodshed and will come close to its 1960 film inspiration "Psycho."

Monday's finale, which Entertainment Weekly describes as "bloody," will not see every character surviving in the suspense drama.

"You better believe that not everyone will survive Monday's bloody 'Bates Motel' finale!" Entertainment Weekly wrote. "The body count is between 1-3, but the tension is a perfect 10 as Norma's battle against the seedy underbelly of White Pine Bay comes to a head. But there's also romantic tension, including a long-awaited kiss for one of your favorite 'shipped couples. And we're not even talking about Norma (Vera Farmiga) and Norman (Freddie Highmore)!"

This fan favorite couple could be Dylan (Max Thieriot) and Emma (Olivia Cooke), TV Line reported. According to showrunner Kerry Ehrin, the two characters' relationship was not predetermined and that their romance will take an interesting turn in the upcoming finale.

"It was one of those things that came out of the organic life of the show and the actors and the storytelling," Ehrin told TV Line's Michael Ausiello. "It just started to make sense."

Ausiello continued, "Monday's closer features the coolest, most significant 'Psycho' homage to date."

TV Guide's official synopsis for the episode reads: "In the Season 3 finale, Norma hits a breaking point with Norman's issues; Emma has a surprising reaction to seemingly positive news; Romero (Nestor Carbonell) seals his fate in the town by finally choosing sides; and Caleb (Kenny Johnson) makes a decision that will uproot his new life."

Last week's episode of "Bates Motel" featured the return of Bradley (Nicola Peltz) and a development between the relationship of Norma and Alex Romero, Ecumenical News wrote. Though the long-awaited kiss between the two didn't happen, the physically violent and passionate scene between Norma and the Sheriff spoke volumes for the pair's future.

"They still have huge trust issues," Ehrin told TV Line of the tension between Norma and Romero. "And they're just starting to peel away a little bit of that. With two people like this, when they finally do cross that line, it's going to be so f-ing (amazing)...it makes me cry just thinking about it."

Farmiga describes the two characters as "positively ignited ions" in the sense that "they repel and they attract," TV Line reported. According to the actress, that "one-upmanship" is needed to build an "incredibly passionate dynamic."

Ecumenical News added that Norman's hallucinations are bound to get worse and it will only be a matter of time before the teenager will turn into his serial killer persona in "Psycho."

The Season 3 finale of "Bates Motel" will air on Monday, May 11 at 9:00 PM on A&E.
