The undeniable success savored by Apple's latest iPhones most certainly contributes to the hype geared towards their successor. For a fact, we know that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have broken the Cupertino giant's pre-order records, and now prospects are up to wonder how -- and what -- the company's next smartphone will be like.

With Apple's eyes set on the recently-available Apple Watch and the declining iPad sales, it's fairly understandable why details about the next iPhone are mere products of rumor mills. The web is still speculating whether the device will be an iPhone 6s or an iPhone 7, and given the company's silence, it would be difficult to determine how these handsets might differ from one another -- that is, if Apple follows its conventional release pattern.

That being said, we could still see an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 6c, or we could head straight to an iPhone 7, as predicted by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

For now, we've curated the biggest (and latest) specs and features aimed solely at the iPhone 6s, the alleged successor to the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

Release Date

Before we get into technical details, note that the iPhone 6s is expected to arrive in fall, Realty Today noted. The outlet is convinced that the new iPhone will follow time frames of its predecessors' launches, most of which happened in the month of September.

Force Touch

Introduced in the Apple Watch, Force Touch is Apple's way of determining whether users tap or press displays by force, BGR cited. As told by the outlet, Apple brands it as the "most significant new sensing capability since Multi-Touch."

BGR believes Force Touch could make sense in an iPhone as it would offer "a wider array of controls and gesture commands across all types of apps."

A9 Processor

This new processor is a highly-anticipated spec centered around the new iPhone, as word about it tells that it's been made by long-time rival Samsung.

According to International Business Times, the iPhone 6s is believed to sport the chip, and while Samsung is said to "handle the bulk" of Apple's orders, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is purported to deliver "up to a third" of the manufacturing.

Touch ID Improvements

The thought of "improvements" may sound vague and uninteresting for those who rarely use the technology, but a recently-surfacing patent reveals that Apple is interested in developing a Touch ID sensor "built-in to the display," Macworld wrote.

As told by the outlet, this particular sensor will detect the user's fingerprints on any area of the screen, and more interestingly, will support identification of multiple fingers and even the entire palm.

A "Bendgate" Fix?

As far as rumors have taken it, the iPhone 7 could boast of an intentionally-bendable architecture, while the iPhone 6s, as referred in AUTOOMOBILE's headline, is believed to arrive with a new aluminum case "stronger so that they don't have to deal with all the iPhone bending talks."

This could be good news for those questioning the durability of the latest iPhone, but until Apple confirms, these rumors are best taken with healthy pinches of salt.
