Crickets are probably Salma Hayek's secret for her gorgeous body.

The 48-year-old Mexican actress recently filmed herself devouring a huge cricket for all her almost 65,000 Instagram followers to see.

The short clip featured Hayek's mouth in full view with a dead cricket resting on the tip of her tongue. After a few seconds, she bit into the insect and a crunching sound was heard through the video. Later, the movie star smirked into the camera then said, "These are crickets from Mexico, from Oaxaca, and they are eaten..."

The video gained mixed reactions from Hayek's followers. Some were grossed out while some users were amused by the actress' diet choice.

The video post was followed by a close-up snapshot of the actress' meal, where the dead insects' bulging eyes were shown in full view.

The "Everly" actress was known for her adoration for animals. Earlier this month, she posted another clip featuring herself surrounded by a bunch of her pets. The recording showed Hayek lounging on her bed with two dogs and a pair of parrots perched on her shoulder. Watch the clip here.

Salma Hayek's Upcoming Projects

Aside from devouring exotic meals, Hayek is also busy with her movie career. According to Daily Mail, the wife of billionaire François-Henri Pinault is currently filming the animated movie titled "Sausage Party" alongside James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, and Michael Cera.

She also stars in Wayne Blair's American drama "Septembers of Shiraz" opposite Adrien Brody, and in Matteo Garrone's new film "The Tale of Tales," Daily Mail wrote.

Loosely based on the collection of fairy tales by 17th century Italian poet Giambattista Basile, "The Tale of Tales" will showcase a fantastical ambiance featuring characters portrayed by Hayek, Vincent Cassel, John C. Reilly, Toby Jones, Stacy Martin, Alba Rohrwacher, and Massimo Ceccherini, Indie Wire reported. The movie is slated for release in Italian theaters on May 14, 2015.

Hayek's another film titled "The Prophet," which is based on Kahlil Gibran's novel of the same name, is also set for release in theaters soon, Step Feed reported. The animated flick's official April 27 release date in Beirut, Lebanon will feature Hayek, the producer and director of the movie, as the voice behind the character Kamila.

Along with the Mexican beauty, "The Prophet" also stars Liam Neeson as Mustafa, John Krasinski as Halim, Alfred Molina as Sergeant, Quvenzhané Wallis as Almitra, and Frank Langella as Pasha, the news outlet wrote.

In addition to her film commitments, Hayek is also active when it comes to product endorsements. Last month, she was chosen as the new face of the prestigious Milanese jewelry brand Pomellato, Latin Times reported. Pomellato was owned by the French luxury company Kering, which is controlled by the actress' husband.
