It hasn't even been officially announced, but that hasn't stopped the Samsung Galaxy S5 from hitting the rumor mill full force. A number of release date reports are hitting the technosphere — here's a roundup of when to expect the Galaxy S5.

For starters, Samsung will most certainly release a new flagship during the first half of 2014. The South Korean manufacturer has been following this strategy for a couple years now with incredible success, and there's no foreseeable deviation from the plan: a Galaxy S handset during the first half of the year, and a Galaxy Note phablet during the second half of the year equals year-round sales.

Most information indicates that Samsung might release the Galaxy S5 slightly earlier than it has released Galaxy S smartphones in the past. The big money is on a Q1 2014 launch, with mass production of the phone starting at the beginning of the year. A new ETNews report states that the Galaxy S5 will release alongside four other phones during Q1 2014.

Well-known Russian tech blogger Eldar Murtazin, however, disagrees. In a recent tweet, Eldar made it clear he expects the Galaxy S5 in April, not in Q1. For those doing the math, that's only a difference of one month.

Bear in mind that Samsung has not confirmed any information regarding the Galaxy S5. The handset is still in development, and until it is revealed to the public, it's best to take all the speculation with some skepticism.

Whenever it does release, the Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM, a 4,000mAh battery, and a 16-megapixel camera. The Galaxy S5 is also rumored to come in a metal casing, a first for a Samsung flagship.
