World's Richest Supermodel Gisele Bündchen Reveals Why She Quit the Catwalk

Gisele Bündchen has revealed that the reason why she ended her two-decade-long catwalk career is because her body "asked her to stop."

According to an AFP report on Yahoo! News, Bündchen has learned to listen to her body. The 34-year-old supermodel is set to strut her final catwalk during São Paulo Fashion Week this month in her native country of Brazil. The fashion show will see Bündchen modeling for esteemed clothing company Colcci, E! News noted.

"Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body, it's a privilege to be able to stop runway work," she told Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo.

The Brazilian beauty, however, insisted that she has other plans for her modeling career even though she chose to end her catwalk life. A statement published on Boston Herald from Bündchen's representatives also added that the supermodel will give more time for her number one priority: her family.

Bündchen is married to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The couple has two children - Benjamin, 5, and Vivian, 2. Bündchen is also stepmom to Brady's 7-year-old son, Jack.

"I don't see how to continue (modeling on the catwalk) ... and stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself," the highest-paid model in the world explained during her interview with Folha de São Paulo..

Despite her impending retirement from the runway, Bündchen's fans will still see the supermodel endorsing various products and brands, as well as modeling for TV, magazine, and other ad campaigns, Boston Herald noted. She marked her modeling career as the prestigious lingerie brand Victoria's Secret No. 1 Angel.

Since then, she has worked with esteemed brands such as Chanel, Stuart Weitzman, H&M, Balenciaga, Pantene, Valentino, Versace, Alexander Wang, and Louis Vuittion, Fox News Latino reported. Her various contracts with high-end endorsements have contributed in Bündchen's recognition as the "world's highest earning model" for eight years in a row, Latin Times wrote.

Forbes reported that Bündchen earned $47 million last year for her campaigns for high-end brands. Daily Mail added that she plans to publish a coffee table book and appear in a documentary about her life.

Back in September, she was featured in Under Armour's "I Will What I Want" ad campaign, which drew attention to Bündchen's enviable body in workout clothes. According to E! News, the ad aimed to show the model's "raw athleticism and ability to tune out public opinion and stay focused on her goals." She maintains her striking figure through yoga and Pilates sessions, as well as frequently hitting the gym.
