Is this Sony's next flagship?

An unidentified Sony handset has recently passed the Federal Communications Commission's testing procedures, Phone Arena reported. Dubbed under the code name PM-0780, the phone is noted to have six different variants listed, all identical in hardware. It's battery, however, is non-removable.

As told by Phone Arena, the device also supports a wide range of LTE bands. The variants are said to differ slightly in the configuration of their cellular radios.

Interestingly, the handset's width and height dimensions are similar to the Xperia Z3's (5.75 x 2.87 inches), GSMArena wrote. The source also noted the inclusion of a microSD card.

The thought of an expandable storage option coincides with an earlier leak, which depicted the device as having a single port flap. If speculations hold truth, the Xperia Z4 is put to an advantage against the Samsung Galaxy S6, which lacked a storage expansion slot.

Expert Reviews is convinced that the FCC certificate indicates that the new handset will be revealed soon. The Xperia Z4, as pointed by the outlet, is already approved by the Japanese Internal Affairs and Communication Ministry. The device is reportedly carried by Japanese networks NTT, DoCoMo, KDDI and SoftBank.

The inclusion of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor is one of the "almost-confirmed" specs of the Xperia Z4, Know Your Mobile said. The outlet took note of Gen Tsuchikawa's remarks, senior VP of Sony Mobile, who said, "Whether it's long-lasting battery life, watching the latest movies or enjoying music in Hi-Res Audio quality, our customers are increasingly demanding more from their Xperia device to deliver the latest content and entertainment experiences."

"We're excited about the new capabilities of the Snapdragon 810 processor and are looking forward to working with Qualcomm Technologies as we bring new Xperia products to consumers later this year," the rep revealed.

Citing leaked information, Android Pit assumed that the Xperia Z4 launches in May, while the Xperia Z4 Compact arrives by November.

According to the outlet, the device is rumored to pack a 5.2- or 5.5-inch display, a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (QHD), 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal storage, Category 6 LTE and Bluetooth 4.1. It may be safe to say that the handset ships with the latest version of Android Lollipop.

In terms of camera, Android Pit cited Sony's announced Exmor RS IMX230 sensor. It is said to capture at 21 MP, recording at 30 FPS with 4K resolution (4096 x 2160).

The Xperia Z4 is speculated to sell for $1,250. For more information about the current Xperia Z3, head over here.
