Amir Khan cannot hide his excitement over the possibility of facing Floyd Mayweather Jr in a blockbuster showdown that could take place in May next year.

But while he sees the Mayweather showdown as a huge opportunity to prove that he is one of the best boxers in the world today, Khan insisted that he will not allow Mayweather to dictate the terms of their fight, including the catch weight.

Khan pointed out that the previous opponents of Mayweather gave into the American's demand when it comes to catch weight, but the Briton reiterated that he will only agree to fight the pound-for-pound king at 147lbs.

"I will not be dictated to. With me it will be 147lbs and that is it," Khan said in an interview with Nick Lustig via Boxingscene. "I will be moving up a weight and I will not be killing myself to make it - has he ever fought anyone who has done that before?"

Khan also blasted Mayweather for "cherry picking" fighters who are slower and smaller than him, saying that it is time for the 36-year-old champion to take on a quicker and bigger fighter.

"He is always fighting guys who are slow, but I think it is time he moves up a notch and takes on someone quick, exciting and as big as him," Khan said.

Mayweather is coming off a majority decision win over Saul Alvarez in September in a fight in which he displayed his impressive defense and effective fight plan to keep his record unblemished in 45 fights.

The 26-year-old Khan knows that beating Mayweather is a gargantuan task, but the former welterweight champion said that he is not scared of Mayweather.

"I do not fear anyone in life. I am not scared of Mayweather's career or what he has done, I respect it, but I am not afraid," Khan said. "He always fights people he can control, he cannot control me. I am one of the most exciting and fastest fighters in the world, so let's see how he copes against speed and power instead of just power."
