The Liverpool side is contributing to the noise surrounding the soccer world in the January transfer window, with the rumor breaking out that Mario Balotelli is about to go.

Liverpool could pull all the stops to let Mario Balotelli go this month, to prepare for the double move of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero, said The Telegraph.

"Mario Balotelli is set to become the catalyst in a complicated January transfer window jigsaw for Liverpool," noted the Daily Mail, explaining that he could be handed over to Sampdoria to lure Romero to Anfield. By then, the report said, Liverpool could offer £30-million to Napoli for Higuain.

If a transfer deal pushes through, according to the rumor, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is eyeing Higuain as a replacement. Romero would, meanwhile, take over the role of Simon Mignolet.

The Italian striker has not been in tip-top shape and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. has allegedly thrown in its intent to acquire him, the Telegraph report said. Other reports point to a Juventus deal.

However, Juventus already denied the rumor that it was indeed working out a deal with Liverpool, per ESPN FC.

According to the report, his agent, Mino Raiola, was seen on the Juventus' training premises just last week, instantly fuelling speculations that Balotelli is being negotiated, together with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

However, the 24-year-old, who checked in with just two goals since his £16-million transfer to the Reds from AC Milan in August, is feared as a risk by the Juve board, said ESPN FC.

Citing an Italian TV station RAI, the report quoted Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri as saying, "I think this is a made-up story."

He added: "Balotelli has done very well with me but he belongs to Liverpool and he is not a player that can arrive at Juventus," referring to his stint coaching the player in Milan before his own transfer to Juve in July.

"With me, Balotelli had a good year, with a good goalscoring record. Unfortunately he's built a 'persona' outside of the football world and because of this people tend to talk more about what he does off the pitch than what he does on the pitch," he said, referring to several out-of-game issues he's been involved in.

"But I think the time has come for him to show that he really can achieve his full potential -- through sacrifices and effort," he said. "Whether I would like to work with him again or not, well, I would love to have all the best players, but he's at Liverpool now, and while he is there he needs to concentrate on playing well. He needs to concentrate on showing he is an important player."

The player's contract expires in June 2017, and has been out due to a groin injury in November.
