Sergio Ramos has hinted about wanting to sign up with Arsenal, but according to Air Herald, it seems that contract negotiations with the athlete and Real Madrid are going well, and that he's likely to stay with the Spanish club.

The website reported that Ramos's contract extension has been in talks for months, but the athlete wanted more than what they were offering. When news of the issue spread, offers were reportedly made to steal him away from his team.

Things are written in water at this point, because after a controversial penalty decision on Wednesday's Madrid Derby, Ramos hinted to a transfer to England.

According to Independent UK, a visibly fuming Ramos said, "I'm not going to talk about controversial issues and certainly not that incident. The only thing I will say is that, with every passing day, I prefer the English Premier League."

He wasn't one to be very vague, either. He added, "What am I talking about? Obviously not about the ball-boys ... the style of play, refereeing. People enjoy watching that competition. When one loses, it's easy to focus on the refereeing decisions."

Bleacher Report commented that Ramos is "arguably the world's best all-round centre-back" and athletes of his caliber are definitely going to be snatched away if provided the opportunity. The website noted that Manchester United is lining up to give him almost $160,000 weekly to head the team, considering that they are keen to have Ramos for the long term, with John Terry exiting and needing a replacement.

Arsenal is also looking interested. Air Herald reported that Arsenal's Arsene Wenger already contacted Ramos's agent, but was told that the athlete is keen on staying with the Spanish club, which he has been with since 2005.

His annoyance of Spanish officiating, however, keeps Manchester and Arsenal on their toes, giving them hope that Ramos may just decide to transfer to the blues soon. His suggestions for Spanish soccer to adopt a greater physical approach makes him a natural fit to the English football setup, which also increases the blues' chances of getting him on either of the teams, despite the seemingly done deal with Bernebeu.

Ramos will have to make big decisions for the benefit of his flourishing career in football. Do you think he should stay with the Spanish club, or is it time to reconsider transferring to the many English teams looking to sign him up?
