Jolly Old Saint Nick is making his way around the world delivering presents and holiday cheer to all the good girls and boys. According to the NORAD Santa Tracking system, he should be visiting east coast households just before midnight.

NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, has long been the go-to operations for mapping and tracking Santa's every move. They even created NORADsanta.org, an interactive site with games, movies, and music for kids to wait out the night. The organization's Santa Cam spots Father Christmas as he visits major cities and notable landmarks.

The tradition started in 1955 when a Colorado Springs Sears Roebucks and Co. misprinted a sponsored hotline that let kids talk to Santa. Instead, they connected with CONAD, the military command center in charge of warning of any incoming Soviet Union nuclear missiles. CONAD turned into NORAD and established itself as one of the most successful Christmas PR campaigns in U.S. history.

Set with a four-tiered system that includes a global camera network and geo-synchronous satellites, NORAD is, in many ways, Santa's official tracker. Their app is available in Apple, Window, and Google Play stores.

Google, who partnered with NORAD from 2007-11, operates its own Santa tracking system, equipped with numerous Christmas-themed games and an Android mobile app. The app offers the ability to Chromecast Santa's location while a Chrome browser extension similarly puts an icon on the top right corner of one's browser.

Santa followers can also track him on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+. More low-key options would be in messaging noradtracksanta@outlook.com or dialing 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723). The toll-free line will be available until 3 a.m. (CST) Christmas day..
