Adidas' early Christmas present for NBA fans might be the unveiling of the uniforms and apparel for the 64th NBA All-Star Game.

Events are scheduled February next year, but the brand, the league's official on-court apparel provider, unveiled on Dec. 2 a set of clothing paying homage to the host city New York, said NBA.com.

"The NBA All-Star Game is a celebration of the host city and basketball culture, and this year we created our most detailed and sophisticated uniforms to date that pay homage to New York and All-Star weekend," said adidas global basketball general manager Chris Grancio, per the report.

"The uniforms are starkly plain compared to those of previous years," said ESPN Go, citing David Cho — he oversees the NBA-Adidas partnership — as saying: "It's a nod to the history, culture and style of New York City basketball."

They incorporate "indigenous elements of the city or the host team into the uniform," explained Christopher Arena, NBA vice president of apparel, sporting goods and basketball partnerships, per For The Win. The NBA website said the sets hark back to the classic uniforms of the early 20th century.

Particularly symbolic are the five stars on the side panel, representing the five boroughs of New York.

For Brooklyn, the star has a brick pattern inspired by the brownstone buildings there, explained the NBA.com report. Queens' star is represented by the stainless steel orbit rings of the Unisphere, built for the 1964 World's Fair.

Cosmopolitan Manhattan is rendered in taxi-cab checkered patterns; The Bronx design has a vinyl record pattern, alluding to its being the birthplace of hip-hop and the vibrant music industry; while Staten Island is treated with the waves of the surrounding waters.

The lettering is black and numbers are blue for the Eastern Conference, while it's a white-and-red color combo for the Western counterpart, it said.

However, ESPN Go noted, the league removed the "East" and "West" markers that have been present since the 1960s. Identification will be by way of the colors alone.

The jerseys' back, meanwhile, will feature the first and last names of the players taking part, a first, the report said.

Sports Illustrated added that the patch and jock tags will be in herringbone detail, dedicated to the Brooklyn's Barclays Center court; while the names and numbers will be in the New York Knicks font.

Warm-up clothes will be black, gray and white, with military-style star patches, varying in number based on the number of times a player has appeared in the NBA All Star, Sports Illustrated added. On-court warm-ups include a tapered pant and a three-quarter-sleeve shooting shirts.

A jacket will be given, with the individual honors — MVP, Rookie of the Year, All Star Game MVP and Championships — represented in the patches.

According to ESPN Go, the apparel will be sold in January. NBA.com said the NBA All Star jerseys will be between $80 and $110 on NBAStore.com and the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue, including a full range of adidas apparel.

The NBA All Star Weekend events on Feb. 13 and 14 will be held at Barclays Center and Madison Square Garden. The game will be played at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 15.
