While Ronaldinho's impressive performance in the Liga MX has placed his team near a post-season berth, there is growing concern that the player is about to press the eject button and sign up for LA Galaxy.

He is unimpressed with his team, Caught Off Side explained. The Queretaro is not an acclaimed team in the league and had been plagued by financial irregularities.

In a press conference, Queretaro sporting director Adolfo Rios tried to slay the issue, saying: "These rumors are baseless, he's happy here, he has a contract and he's shown no interest in leaving," per Caught Off Side.

MLS Soccer said Rios was, in fact, unaware of any talks with other teams and was very confident that the Brazilian star, 34, would not pack his bags before his two-year contract, which began in September, ends.

However, the report noted, LA Galaxy is eager to infuse the player to their roster. MLS Soccer added that he would make a good replacement for Landon Donovan, who recently announced his retirement after this Major League Soccer (MLS) cycle.

The Brazilian star has been linked multiple times to MLS negotiations and, last July, his representatives were rumored to have met with the management of the New York Red Bulls. Saying he had transferred to Latin America after withdrawing from European football, MLS GB wrote that Ronaldinho had already been linked to LA Galaxy after the departure of David Beckham.

Codice Informativo, citing sources close to the soccer player, said Ronaldinho has been reached to play next season for the American big league and was reportedly nearing the green light at the negotiating table. However, the unnamed sources declined to disclose the value of the deal.

According to MLS GB, the transfer would be "sensible," because "...[h]e guarantees excitement and skill and would be able to fill the designated player spot Donovan is set to free up when he hangs his boots up within the next few weeks."

He is also a marketable player, Codice Informativo commented, citing the fact that he was willing to lower his salary to a level below what he charged the Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro, both in his home country Brazil, to wear the Mexican jersey.

By joining, the report also said, he raised the level of Mexican national football economically, increasing sales and headcounts. That's apart from the level of play he exhibited, it added.

If Ronaldinho does opt out of the Mexican scene and heads for the United States, his arrival would coincide with that of Kaka in Orlando City, the FIFA World Player of the Year, said the Indo-Asian News Service in an article available on First Post.

The 2002 World Cup winner must really think hard this time because at his age, the Codice Informativo report said, this could be the last time the doors of the fastest-growing league worldwide would open up for him. That makes the developments all the more exciting.
