"Terminator: Genisys" landed the new cover of Entertainment Weekly and one of the new promotional posters shows "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor) riding shotgun on a motorcycle with "Divergent" actor Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese).

An alternate cover shows John Conner (Jason Clarke) and former "Doctor Who" actor Matt Smith -- playing an unknown role -- looking menacing with weapons and combat gear.

According to the publication, Genisys is going to be stepping away from the original franchise plot by becoming the film series' reboot. With a new plot and a number of new actors bringing to life new characters, the franchise's fifth installment is gearing up to be a movie you'll definitely want to see.

EW reported that the fifth installment is the first of a new trilogy planned by Paramount, which it hopes will bring back the famed franchise's following.

"It's like going on tour again if you're Pink Floyd-the audience always wants to hear some of the old songs," said Matt Smith, in a role where he plays a close ally of John Connor. "There are enough nods to the past that people will feel satisfied."

The upcoming film takes place in 2029, when John Conner, the leader of the resistance sends Kyle Reese to 1984 to save Connor's mother, Sarah, from a Terminator planning to kill her to prevent her from giving birth to John. While it seems similar to the original plot, Sarah is going to be quite different. Unlike the original persona of Connor, she isn't anything like the character Linda Hamilton played in "Terminator 2."

"Rather, the mother of humanity's messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she's been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger's Terminator-an older T-800 she calls "Pops"-who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who's great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion," revealed EW.

"Since she was 9 years old, she has been told everything that was supposed to happen," said producer David Ellison. "But Sarah fundamentally rejects that destiny. She says, 'That's not what I want to do.' It's her decision that drives the story in a very different direction."

Catch "Terminator: Genisys," directed by Alan Taylor, when it hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
